The results of a recent study commissioned by the National Coalition for Safer Roads and FocusDriven has found that roughly 12 percent of red light violations result from distracted driving.
The results were from reviewing stoplight camera images from 118 intersections in 19 communities over a three-month time span. Based on their calculations, this would mean that distracted driving could be responsible for as many as 7.3 million red light infractions per year in the U.S.
