Now there's an app for booking a taxi. For those who frequently take one in Malaysia, you can download an app called MyTeksi, which is a platform for taxi bookings that are available for both iOS and Android platforms.

Don't have a smartphone? Not a problem. The platform offers a simple SMS supported system too. The MyTeksi app can be downloaded for free from either the Apple App Store or Google Play.

It basically works like this: Once a taxi driver has accepted a job, you'll receive confirmation details of your booking and the app will estimate the fare of your ride from start to destination points. There is a RM2 surcharge which is standard for any phone taxi booking rate, and you'll need to pay this to the driver. MyTeksi does not charge at all.

If you're using a nonsmartphone or an unsupported platform, then you can just send an SMS to 36881 with the following information and you will receive an SMS confirmation or a call within 3 minutes. Easy peasy? You bet.
